The Challenge

A globally recognised beverage manufacturer operating alcohol distilling, warehousing, and logistics facilities across Australia required a cohesive, high-standard approach to emergency preparedness and staff competency.

With thousands of employees nationally, multiple high-risk environments, and strict compliance obligations under both WHS and Building Fire Safety legislation, maintaining consistency and accountability across locations was a significant challenge.

Previous fragmented approaches involving multiple providers created inconsistency in documentation, procedures, and training outcomes, leaving operational and compliance gaps at the site level.

Cause for Change

The company’s leadership sought a provider capable of managing all facets of emergency preparedness under one trusted framework. They needed specialists who could operate within high-risk industrial environments, including alcohol distilling operations, and provide services that went beyond basic compliance, building real capability within their workforce.

Life International Training (LIT) had already demonstrated exceptional performance through Fire Safety Advisory Services and Emergency Training at a number of our facilities. The quality of delivery, depth of clinical and operational experience, and responsiveness from the LIT team quickly established trust.

That trust led to LIT being engaged nationally as the company’s comprehensive safety and emergency preparedness partner.

Process of Change

LIT undertook a structured, site-by-site approach to unify the company’s emergency management systems and training standards.

This included:

  • Annual Fire Safety & Warden Training: Delivered by experienced responders, tailored to distilling environments, flammable liquid storage, and warehouse operations.
  • Fire Safety Advisory Services: Ongoing support ensuring compliance with state-based requirements and internal audit frameworks.
  • Emergency Procedure Development & Review: Bespoke documentation integrating operational hazards, shift structures, and emergency response team coordination.
  • Evacuation Diagram Production: Compliant diagrams designed for all facilities, developed in line with National Standards, State requirements and site-specific requirements.
  • First Aid & CPR Training: Delivered nationally by LIT’s team of clinicians, focused on real-world incident readiness and hands-on skills.
  • Customised First Aid Kits: Designed and stocked based on site-specific risk assessments, injury data, and known staff medical considerations.

LIT’s integrated model ensured that each site received consistent, auditable systems with local flexibility to accommodate operational differences between distilling, packaging, and office environments.

The Results

Through partnership with Life International Training, the company has achieved national consistency, operational readiness, and complete compliance coverage.

Key outcomes include:

  • Standardised training and documentation across all Australian sites.
  • Enhanced emergency response capability through realistic, scenario-based training.
  • Improved safety culture and engagement, from senior management to frontline teams.
  • Sustained partnership longevity — LIT has remained a trusted provider through multiple changes in company leadership due to proven reliability, performance, and adaptability.

The result is an emergency management program that not only meets legislative standards but reflects the operational excellence expected of a global organisation.
