<b>Craig Whatnall</b>

Craig Whatnall

Director & Co-Founder


Craig Whatnall has been a driving force in the training industry since 1994 and the safety sector since 1999.

As a co-founder of Life International Training, Craig is dedicated to advancing the health, safety, and well-being of Australians through exceptional training programs, expert consultation, and reliable safety solutions. 

Craig’s career began in pre-hospital care as an Ambulance Paramedic and Peer Competency Maintenance Officer, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience. In 1992, he joined the Queensland Ambulance Officer Training Centre, contributing to the rollout of Queensland's first Tertiary Accredited training program for over 1,600 clinical staff. 

His team’s efforts were recognised with four Queensland Training Awards and one National Training Award, alongside a personal commendation for his outstanding contributions to ambulance education.

In 1995, Craig took on the role of State Training Manager at St John Ambulance Queensland, overseeing a network of over 1,500 trainers and delivering lifesaving first aid training to more than 55,000 Queenslanders annually. He also served in influential advisory roles, including the Ministerial Advisory Committee on First Aid Training and the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Craig co-founded Life International Training alongside Mark McMullen to create a company that prioritises quality, trust, and community impact. Together with their team, they continue to deliver industry-leading training and safety solutions, helping individuals and organisations build safer, healthier environments.

When he’s not at work, Craig is an avid cricket enthusiast, a proud supporter of the Brisbane Lions, and a firm believer in living life to the fullest every day.

Mark McMullen

Managing Director & Co-Founder


With over 20 years of experience in the training and safety industries, Mark McMullen is the Managing Director of Life International Training, which he co-founded with Craig Whatnall in February 1999.

Mark’s vision for the company is rooted in a shared commitment to enhancing the health, safety, and well-being of Australians through exceptional training, expert consultation, and innovative safety products. 

Mark began his professional journey in the Australian Army, where he spent seven years as an Electronics Technician and Section Medic. In addition to his technical responsibilities, he played a pivotal role in training personnel in various technical and safety-related disciplines. Following his military service, Mark expanded his expertise as a Field Service Technician with national telecommunications companies, honing his technical acumen and leadership capabilities. 

As a passionate leader, Mark values the strong, family-like culture within Life International Training. He takes pride in mentoring a team of dedicated trainers, assessors, consultants, and support staff, ensuring the company remains a trusted safety partner for businesses across Australia. 

In his free time, Mark enjoys fishing, restoring classic cars, and exploring new destinations. He draws inspiration from diverse experiences to drive his personal and professional growth.

Trent Young 

(General Manager/Trainer & Assessor/Advisor)


Trent is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in health, safety, and emergency response. A qualified paramedic and nurse, Trent served 10 years as an advanced medic in the Australian Army, including operational deployments to Afghanistan, where he honed his skills in leadership, training, and medical operations.

He completed various NATO nation's Special Forces Medic courses and managed battalion-level training for clinicians and non-clinicians alike.
With nearly a decade as a WHS and Fire Safety Advisor, Trent specialises in risk assessment, auditing, and emergency preparedness. 

Passionate about bespoke training, he champions the philosophy of "training the way you work," delivering tailored, cutting-edge solutions that drive continuous improvement.

As General Manager of Life International Training, Trent combines his expertise in leadership, WHS, and risk management to provide industry-leading fire safety and emergency response services. His diverse healthcare background—including mental health, Indigenous health, and emergency care—further supports his ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Dedicated to operational excellence, Trent ensures exceptional outcomes for clients while promoting a culture of safety and support within the workplace.

Wayne Allen

(RTO Manager/Trainer & Assessor/Advisor)


Wayne brings 17 years of military service in the Australian Regular Army and Army Reserves, where he served as an advanced medical technician, including deployments with special operations forces in Iraq. 

His expertise spans prehospital and surgical care, medical training, and international clinic operations.

In addition to his military background, Wayne has experience as a Country Fire Service volunteer and a medical consumables sales representative, enhancing his knowledge of workplace health and safety, fire safety, and first aid.
As a Fire Safety Advisor and Compliance Auditor, Wayne is well-versed in Queensland’s Building and Fire Safety Regulation 2008. His diverse skill set supports his work in RTO compliance and course development, ensuring high-quality training delivery.
Wayne’s real-world experience and engaging approach create impactful, contextualised training sessions that resonate with students and deliver lasting value.


Vicki Cooper

(WHS Manager/Trainer & Assessor/Advisor)


Vicki is a dedicated professional and veteran with 11 years of distinguished service in the Australian Regular Army. 

Her diverse skill set encompasses training, mentoring, and instructional roles, along with expertise in Project Management, Auditing, Training and Assessment, Human Resources, Chemical Compliance, Work Health and Safety, Logistical Management, Warehousing & Distribution, and First Response Medical Support.

Beyond her military career, Vicki has made significant contributions to the education and mining sectors, where her deep knowledge of Work Health and Safety was highly valued. 

As a passionate and committed instructor, Vicki is driven by her interest in compliance, safety, and mental health. 

Her warm, compassionate, and energetic approach creates a supportive learning environment, empowering individuals from all backgrounds to achieve their goals with confidence.

Michele McIlhattton

(Trainer & Assessor)


Michele McIlhatton is a passionate and dedicated trainer with 40 years of experience in education and professional development. Training is more than just a career for Michele—it’s in her DNA. With a lifelong commitment to helping people gain knowledge and confidence, Michele has made a significant impact across various sectors, including Education, Hospitality, Retail, Health and fitness, Mental Health, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).

For the past 14 years, Michele has worked as a workplace trainer for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in the safety industry, specialising in fire safety, evacuation training, and WHS. She has taught thousands of students from diverse backgrounds, emphasising the importance of safety in all environments. 

Michele conducts comprehensive evacuation training to ensure organisations are prepared for emergencies, and she creates engaging, hands-on sessions that incorporate humour, real-life experiences, and class participation. 

Beyond her professional work, Michele is an active volunteer in her community, contributing to local park runs, schools, hospitals, and other events. She is a passionate advocate for mental health and well-being, constantly seeking ways to support and uplift others. Michele’s unwavering commitment to education, safety, and community service has earned her the respect and admiration of her students and peers alike.

David Cooper

(Trainer & Assessor/Advisor)


David is a veteran and former Sergeant with 19 years’ service within the Australian Regular Army (ARA). He served within Australia and overseas conducting both training and Operational Deployments in a multitude of roles both overseas including Planning, Management, Auditing, Training & Assessment, Logistics, Warehousing & Distribution, Civil Construction, Project Management, Security, Work Health & Safety, Aviation Support, First Response Medical Support, Commercial Catering and Food Safety Auditing.

David also served in federal law enforcement as a Sworn Officer within the Australian Border Force (ABF) where his expertise was utilised as a facilitator and recruit instructor within the ABF College. 

David is a passionate instructor with a deep interest in mental health and neuroscience, more specifically, how he can help his students learn and assimilate new information in the most efficient and stress-free way using the latest science-backed principles.
